Acetyl-L-Carnitine is the biologically active form of the amino acid L-carnitine. It can cross the blood-brain barrier, being ideal for promoting neurological health. Acetyl-L-Carnitine has antioxidant activity and is important for brain function, producing energy at the cellular level.

Enzymes and cellular transporters quickly convert carnitine to the desired shape and transport it to tissues. Carnitine and its derivatives play a key role in the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates, proteins and energy production, being critical components for mitochondrial metabolism.
