The action of lutein on the level of macula is enhanced by the addition of zeaxanthin and in generally on the level of the eye its the combination of these two with the lycopene and for the rest of the body by the combination of these two with lycopene.
Lutein is an antioxidant very important especially for the eyes. Destroying free radicals, lutein plays a major role in antioxidant protection of the visual apparatus. Lutein accumulates in two areas of the eye: the yellow spot of the retina (macula) and the lens, participating in their protection.
It is recommended for prevention and treatment of cataracts, to counteract the harmful effects of ultra-violet neutron radiation in the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis of the eye, and generally treating vision disorders.
